Mafida is a young woman who was aware of the disparity and leadership gap between men and women, but was muffled by a lack of confidence. Before attending the Pagdede training Program, I always had aspirations but was stifled by societal and self-imposed limitations.
I was aware of the gender disparities in leadership positions by women and had a burning desire to make a difference, but struggled with self-confidence and fear. I hesitated to step into leadership roles and often questioned my capabilities, leaving my potential untapped. Following the training, I experienced a profound transformation in my life during the training which provided me with the tools to overcome my self-doubt and the knowledge to lead effectively.
I gained newfound self-confidence, honed my leadership skills, and developed a network with experienced professionals who can support and mentor me through my leadership journey. With this newfound empowerment, I began actively advocating for women’s participation in leadership in school and among peer groups and networks. I can now serve as a role model and mentor to other young women, inspiring them to break through their barriers and embrace leadership roles.
My journey from self-doubt to empowerment would have a ripple effect on my community. My advocacy efforts and leadership initiatives would lead to increased awareness about women’s issues, better opportunities for women, and a more significant focus on gender equality. My transformation may not only benefit me personally and professionally but also ignite a positive change in my community, where young women begin to realise their own potential and take up leadership roles, ultimately contributing to a more inclusive and equal society.”
