Hawawu Iddrisu is a graduate of the University for Development Studies. Attending the personal
branding and public speaking training has helped her a lot with her skills and qualifications. She still struggled to stand out in a competitive job market. “I usually lacked confidence in presenting myself effectively to potential employers and felt anxious about speaking in public.
Even with that, I always have concerns about my online safety whenever I want to post something and the impact my digital presence could have on my professional reputation,” Hawawu. She was feeling overwhelmed and uncertain; she knew she needed to make a change in her life, but how and where? So, when she saw the Pagdede program flier a friend sent to her, she quickly applied, and upon going through a series of interviews, she had the opportunity to take part.
Attending the personal branding, public speaking, and online safety training session, Hawawu was
hopeful that these workshops would equip her with the necessary skills and knowledge to enhance her
professional image and help her to communicate more effectively. During the personal branding session, Hawawu learned about the importance of self-reflection and identifying her unique strengths and values then she realised that she had not been effectively showcasing her skills and accomplishments in her job applications and interviews.
Through interactive exercises and guidance from the trainer, Hawawu gained clarity on her narrative and developed a strong personal brand that aligned with her professional goals. In the public speaking training session, Hawawu confronted her fear of speaking in front of others by taking the opportunity to make presentations. She learned practical techniques to overcome stage fright, improve her body language, and deliver impactful presentations.
With the trainer’s support and the opportunity to practice in a safe environment, she gradually gained confidence in her ability to articulate her ideas and engage her audience effectively. During the online safety training, Hawawu became aware of the potential risks and vulnerabilities associated with an online presence. She learned about the importance of privacy settings, strong passwords, and recognising online scams.
Hawawu now has acquired knowledge on how to protect her personal information and maintain a professional image on social media platforms.
I will like to thank The Assistance Hub team and their partners for this great opportunity, am now experiencing a profound transformation in my personal and professional life and I began implementing the strategies I learned, both offline and online, I now implement privacy setting on social media accounts, and my public speaking skills have improved”. “Naawuni Sunti”.
